POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 7 m old boy5 months agoA. Hi Uma, it's completely natural to worry about your baby's feeding at this stage. At 3 months old, some babies prefer smaller, more frequent feeds, especially if they are gaining weight steadily and have enough wet diapers (at least 5–6 per day). Drinking 30–60 ml every 1 to 2 hours may still add up to the recommended daily intake of around 700–900 ml in 24 hours.
Here’s how you can gently encourage your baby to take more milk:
Space out feeds slightly to 2.5–3 hours if she is gaining well. This might help her feel hungrier and drink more per feed. Burp halfway through feeding to relieve gas and allow more room for milk. Ensure a calm, distraction-free environment while feeding. Try different feeding positions to see what your baby prefers. If bottle-feeding, use a slow or medium-flow nipple to match her sucking strength and avoid tiring too fast.
If she is otherwise healthy, alert, gaining weight, and not vomiting often, this pattern may be normal for her. But if you're still worried, consult your pediatrician for a growth check and feeding guidance.
