Q.

#asktheexpert hi Doc. So I was on thyroid 12.5mg throughout my pregnancy because I had an ovarian cyst operation just before I got pregnant and developed thyroid. I have stopped my thyroid now as I'm breastfeeding. I wanted to know does it or will it affect baby? I haven't lost weight or gone down to my pre-pregnancy weight because I had bloated up before pregnancy

A. Hi, You should not stop your thyroid medication due to breastfeeding dear. You can breastfeed while taking your medication. There is no harm in that. Please continue breastfeeding till 6 month exclusively and don't forget to burp after every feed. Take your medicine on time.
