#AskTheExpert hi doc, my baby is not having bowel movements for last 5 days, is it normal? what can i do

ExpertDr.Rasika ThosarPaediatric Intensivist4 years agoA. good afternoonif he is exclusively breastfed then constipation is rare.
he will pass stools eventually. do tummy time, cycling motion of legs, do burp properly.
if child becomes irritable , not feeding well , then consult your paediatrician.
formula fed babies may have constipation. so watch for consistency of stools as well.

Author of questionMom of a 4 yr 7 m old boy4 years agoA. thanks dr. he's breastfed as well as formula fed. including today it will be 6 days since he's not had bowel movement. as per doctor prescription I'm giving him iron drops, could that be the reason?

please give daily massage and sun light exposure
please give plenty of breast feeding to your child when you're child is demanding
you can give warm water bath to your child
