A. Keep baby's room well ventilated, cool and comfortable. Dim the lights and feed at night. Keep noise levels and activities to a minimum after evening hours. Try to keep a routine of play, bath, and sleep timings. Massage and bath before bed. Give hindmilk that comes later from breastmilk which contains fats and keeps baby full longer. Use a white noise machine which plays soothing music or rain or water sounds. Swaddle baby for cozy sleeping. Breastmilk is generated on demand supply basis and the more you feed baby, the better milk supply. Even pumping gives stimulation and increases breastmilk production. Pump a few times a day after feeding baby. Try to have galactagogues like Galact powder three times with milk, lots of roasted garlic I everything, Shatavari, fenugreek seeds cooked with rice, poppy seeds or khus khus, sesame seeds, palak leaves, dill leaves, methi leaves, fennel or saunf, Soaked garden cress (aliv/aalvi/halim), gourds especially ridge gourd, ghee, whole grains, such as brown rice, quinoa, oats, dry fruits such as walnuts, flax seeds, almonds, hazelnuts, dried figs, tofu, paneer, butter, and whole curds, jaggery. Eat healthy diet with lots of citrus fruits, leafy greens, and vegetables. Drink atleast 3 litres of water, and other liquids like fruit juices, coconut water, soups daily. A. Hi momma, babies usually lose some weight after birth and they must gain it again by 1 month. Try to keep feeding baby every 2 hours or on demand. Babies usually should double their birth weight by 5th month and triple birth weight by 1 year. Only breastmilk or formula are main sources of nutrition for babies. After 5 to 6 months you can give solid foods to baby after confirmation and guidance from baby's pediatrician.
For avoiding gas problem make sure you burp baby between feed and after every feed. Walk around with baby's head on your shoulder and supporting her neck gently bounce. It is fine for breastfed babies to not poop for upto 5 days . Give tummy time daily for a few minutes multiple times. Gently massage your baby's tummy with fingers and Cycle baby's legs with your hands gently after every feed.
Check with your baby's pediatrician for any other doubts or questions.
