1 Answer

A. By 3 months, most babies start to smile socially, especially in response to faces or voices. However, some babies may take a little longer. Here’s what you can do:
1. Encourage Interaction Make eye contact and talk to your baby in a gentle, playful voice. Smile often and wait for a response. Babies learn by imitation. Try different tones and expressions to grab attention. 2. Use Toys and Sounds Use colorful toys, rattles, or musical mobiles to catch your baby’s interest. Play soft, gentle music and observe the response. 3. Give More Face Time Hold your baby close to your face while talking. Try peek-a-boo or funny faces to encourage a reaction. 4. Check Baby’s Vision and Hearing Ensure your baby notices faces, voices, and objects. If your baby doesn’t react to loud sounds or doesn’t make eye contact, consult a doctor. 5. Be Patient Every baby develops at their own pace. Some babies start smiling at 6-8 weeks, while others may take up to 4 months.
If your baby doesn’t smile by 4 months or seems unresponsive to interaction, it’s a good idea to discuss it with a pediatrician.
