More About The Name Niobe

The name "Niobe" originates from Greek mythology. In Greek, it is spelled as Νιόβη. Niobe was a tragic figure in Greek mythology, known for her immense arrogance and pride. She was the daughter of Tantalus and wife of Amphion, the king of Thebes.

According to the myth, Niobe boasted about her superior beauty and the number of her children, comparing herself to the goddess Leto, who only had two children, Apollo and Artemis. As punishment for her hubris, Apollo and Artemis killed all of Niobe's children, and she was left devastated. Overwhelmed by grief, Niobe turned into stone and wept forever on Mount Sipylus in Anatolia.
