Nephele Name Meaning

The name Nephele is of Greek origin and it derives from the word "nephele," meaning "cloud." In Greek mythology, Nephele was a nymph created by Zeus as a cloud in the image of his wife Hera. She was sent to Earth to protect Phrixus and Helle, the twin children of Athamas, from their evil stepmother. Nephele aided them by providing the legendary Golden Fleece, which enabled Phrixus to escape on the back of a winged ram.
