Iblis Name Meaning

The name "Iblis" has its origins in Islamic belief and is the name assigned to the devil. The term "Iblis" is adapted from the Arabic language which refers to "to be in despair" or "to lose hope".

In Islamic tradition, Iblis was once a devout servant of God (Allah) but was cast out of heaven and condemned to hell after he refused to bow to Adam, the first human, out of pride, claiming that he, a creature made of fire, was superior to a creature made of clay.
