Euridice Name Meaning

The name "Euridice" is of Greek origin and is derived from the Greek words "eurys" meaning "wide" or "broad" and "dike" meaning "justice" or "righteousness."

In Greek mythology, Euridice was a nymph and the wife of Orpheus, a legendary musician and poet. Their story is tragic, as Euridice was bitten by a snake and died shortly after their marriage. Orpheus, devastated by her death, traveled to the underworld and charmed Hades, the god of the underworld, with his music. Hades agreed to let Euridice return to the land of the living on one condition: Orpheus must not look back at her until they reached the world above. Unfortunately, Orpheus could not resist and glanced back, losing Euridice forever.
