Calisto Name Meaning

The name Calisto is of Greek origin. It is derived from the Greek word "kalos," which means "beautiful" or "lovely."

In Greek mythology, Calisto was a nymph who caught the attention of Zeus, the king of the gods. Zeus disguised himself as Artemis, the goddess of the hunt, and seduced Calisto. When Artemis discovered the affair, she transformed Calisto into a bear. Eventually, Calisto was placed in the stars as the constellation Ursa Major, also known as the Great Bear.
