Andromache Name Meaning

The name Andromache has Greek origins and is derived from the combination of two Greek words: "andros," meaning "man," and "mache," meaning "battle." Therefore, the name Andromache can be interpreted to mean "battle of a man" or "man's warrior."

In Greek mythology, Andromache was the wife of Hector, a Trojan prince and the greatest warrior of Troy during the Trojan War. The character of Andromache is prominently featured in Homer's epic poem, the Iliad. After the Greek victory, Andromache becomes a slave to the Greek hero Neoptolemus.
