A. Small acne-like spots on a baby's face can be caused by several factors: 1. Newborn Acne: Also known as neonatal acne, this is common and usually appears within the first few weeks of life. It's thought to be caused by hormonal changes and typically resolves on its own within a few months. 2. Milk Rash: Sometimes referred to as "milk rash," this can occur from milk or formula that comes into contact with the baby's skin. 3. Heat Rash: If a baby gets overheated or sweats excessively, they can develop a heat rash, which appears as small red or pink bumps. 4. Contact Dermatitis: This can occur if the baby’s skin reacts to lotions, detergents, or fabrics that come into contact with their skin. 5. Eczema: Eczema can cause red, itchy patches that might look like acne. 6. Infantile Papular Rash: This is a harmless rash that can appear as small, red bumps and is common in infants. To manage these spots: Keep the Area Clean: Gently clean your baby’s face with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh products. Avoid Overheating: Ensure your baby is not overdressed and the room is at a comfortable temperature. Use Gentle Products: Stick to baby-safe lotions and detergents. Consult a Pediatrician: If the spots are persistent, worsening, or accompanied by other symptoms, it’s a good idea to consult a pediatrician to rule out any underlying conditions. In most cases, baby acne and rashes are benign and resolve with time and proper care.
