Q.

my son who is 2 years and 8 months has frequently been facing constipation issues. he cries in pain because of hard stools. i had kept suppository as suggested by a doctor. some weeks the motion is normal but some days it gets really hard. can I give some stool softeners for a few days so that he is able to pass stools normally? he eats fruits, drinks prune water, raisins, grapes and vegetables. it still doesn't help.

A. The problem of constipation will decrease with proper diet modification that is plenty of water and fibre diet and try to give more papaya oats and fennel seeds water to the child.d You may have to give a course of constipation medicine to the child to stabilize the child from the pain. Constipation usuallyx decreases with increasing age of the child and medicines give only symptomatic relief.
