POOJA KOTHARIExpecting Mom due this month3 months agoA. If your son's weight has remained constant at 8.9 kg from 15 to 18 months, it can be a concern, as toddlers typically gain about 200–300 grams per month at this stage. A few common reasons for stagnant weight include:
Poor appetite or picky eating Frequent illnesses or infections Nutrient deficiencies High activity levels without sufficient calorie intake
Here’s what you can do:
Offer calorie-rich, nutritious foods like ghee, banana, full-fat dairy, egg yolk, sweet potatoes, and nut pastes. Feed small portions frequently (5–6 times a day) rather than focusing on large meals. Track his activity level and overall development—if he’s active, alert, and growing in height, it may be less worrisome. Avoid too much milk or liquids before meals, as they can reduce appetite. Deworming might be needed if not done in the last 6 months—consult your pediatrician.
If the weight still doesn’t improve or there are other concerns (fatigue, frequent illness, or slow development), a pediatric evaluation is important to rule out underlying issues.
