A. If your seven-month-old son has had a fever for the last three days that isn’t reducing despite medication, it’s important to consult a pediatrician promptly. Persistent fever can be a sign of an underlying infection or illness that may require further evaluation and possibly more targeted treatment. While it’s common for fevers to rise and fall, a prolonged fever, especially in infants, warrants professional attention. In the meantime, ensure he stays well-hydrated and is dressed in light clothing to help keep his body temperature down. You can also try lukewarm sponge baths to provide some comfort. However, avoid using cold water or ice, as this can cause shivering and may increase the body temperature. Keep a close eye on any other symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, rash, or excessive irritability, and share this information with your healthcare provider during your visit. It’s crucial to address the fever effectively to ensure his health and well-being.
