My daughter is having heavy fever. I have given Crocin 240 to her but the temperature is not in control. I am giving continuous sponge bath to control the temperature but after an hour it raises. I have also given meftal p 5 hours back. Should I give it again after 1 hour ? That is 6 hours frequency. Her Temperature is 100.3. Please suggest how often meftal can be given and the sponge bath ?

Fever is the response of the body to any kind of infection or any inflammatory process in body and only when the temperature is above 99F it is considered as fever, so you can give paracetamol in a dose of 15 mg/kg/dose as the first line treatment this dose can be again repeated after every 5 to 6 hours if again required and you can also do cold sponging of the body to reduce fever in between the doses ,but if it continues further you should consult your doctor for proper treatment. if the temperature is not controlled by paracetamol alone meftal p can be given in between as a single dose but only under medical guidance.thhesese medicines will also work to relieve any pain or body ache to a good extent. but in case of infection in which the fever is associated with other problems also it is recommended to get the clinical assessmentn done and get a proper treatment done by a doctor.if not associated with any other symptom it may be viral too.
