A. If your 2-month-old baby hasn't had a bowel movement for 7-8 days, it's understandable to be concerned. However, newborns and young babies can sometimes go several days without a bowel movement, especially if they are breastfeeding, as breast milk is highly digestible and leaves little waste. Here are a few steps you can take: 1. Breastfeeding: If you are breastfeeding, make sure you are feeding frequently and offering both breasts during each feeding. This ensures your baby is getting enough milk and hydration, which can help with bowel movements. 2. Tummy Time: Gently encourage tummy time, as it helps strengthen the muscles and can sometimes encourage bowel movements. 3. Bicycle Legs: Gently move your baby's legs in a cycling motion while they are lying on their back. This can help stimulate bowel movements. 4. Warm Bath: Giving your baby a warm bath can help relax their muscles and sometimes encourage them to have a bowel movement. 5. Tummy Massage: Gently massage your baby's tummy in a clockwise motion to help relieve any discomfort and encourage digestion. 6. Hydration: Ensure your baby is well-hydrated, especially if they are formula-fed. Sometimes dehydration can contribute to constipation. If your baby continues to go without a bowel movement or shows signs of discomfort (such as excessive fussiness, bloating, or hard abdomen), or if you have concerns about constipation, it is important to consult your pediatrician for further advice. They may recommend a gentle remedy or check if there is any underlying issue.
