Q.
My baby used to gain around 250 grams every week. At 7 weeks he had his vaccination followed by three days of fever. Now at 8weeks he has gained only 60 grams. Is it because of fever? (We have infant weighing scale at home)

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children2 years agoA. Post vaccination swelling may be a common thing specially after DPT vaccine which may be painful for two or three days and the swelling may remain even up to month so if it is not causing any pain or other symptoms nothing to worry.
Swelling can be reduced by giving ice fomentatiofn locally and paracetamol can be given for fever or pain.
Thrombophobe ointmefnt can be applied in acute pain and swelling .
