A. This needs evaluation so it would be better to follow the local doctor for proper advice and doctor will guide you accordingly regarding this which would be more beneficial so you can follow the adviceFever is a reaction of the body to different pyrogens released during any Infection. Usually temp more than 99 F is taken as fever .
Mostly in children fever is because of viral infections like flu or RSV where the fever is there for 4-5 days but may persist even upto 2 weeks .
Initially antipyretic like paracetamol is given in a dose of 15 mg / kg/ dose. Can be repeated after 4-6 hrs if needed .
Lukewarm sponge bath can be given as home remedy to decrease fever.
Adequate fluid intake is also beneficial.
Urine output monitoring is necessary to avoid dehydration .Fever is commonly seen in babies and mostly it's viral infection which is very common in children.
But if fever is high grade and persisting or assosiated with specific symptoms than other causes should also be ruled out .
Antipyretic like paracetamol or ibuprofen or mefenamic acid are usually given to reduce fever . Cold sponging with lukewarm water is also helpful .
Doctor consultation should be done if symptoms like excessive irritability dullness loss of appetite less urine output is there .
