I am a surprise that even after six days your doctor has not advised to go for a blood test because when the fever does not subside within three days the doctors normally advised to go for a blood test in this case if you haven’t got it done as of now I would recommend you to go ahead with a Blood test for the child￼Write Your Answer Here

Fever is commonly seen in babies and mostly it's viral infection which is very common in children. 
But if fever is high grade and persisting  or assosiated with specific symptoms than other causes should also be ruled out .
Antipyretic like paracetamol or ibuprofen  or mefenamic acid are usually given to reduce fever . Cold sponging properly with lukewarm water is also helpful . 
Doctor consultation should be done if symptoms like excessive irritability  dullness loss of appetite less urine output is there .
