Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy1 Year agoA. it is totally normal for small children less than 6 months of age not to pass stool for 10 days also.
it is also normal if they are passing stool more than 6 or 7 times per day.
if the consistency of the stool is Semi solid to solid there is no need to worry about the frequency as well as the colour (the colour can range from yellow brown green to black) of the stool.
also straining while passing urine and stool is normal.
Do burping for 15 to 20 minutes
straining while passing stool as well as urine is normal.
the child is crying due to colic pain (due to gas) and not due to the reason that the child has not passed the stool.
infants may not pass stool for 10 days also and if the consistency of the stool is semi solid to solid it is not constipation. you can consider constipation onlyd if it is hard and dry stools.
you can give anticolic medicines and meet your doctor.
burping / upright position for 20 minutes will help in decreasing thed gas and future colic pain
