A. A head circumference of 49 cm for a 15-month-old baby generally falls within the normal range. Head circumference can vary widely among babies, and what's most important is the consistent growth over time rather than a single measurement. ### Normal Head Circumference: - **For a 15-month-old boy:** The average head circumference typically ranges from about 46 cm to 49 cm. - **For a 15-month-old girl:** The average head circumference typically ranges from about 45 cm to 48 cm. Your baby's head circumference being 49 cm is on the upper end of the average range, which can still be perfectly normal, especially if your baby is active and meeting developmental milestones. ### Monitoring Growth: - **Growth Tracking:** Pediatricians track head circumference over time to ensure it follows a consistent growth curve. A sudden increase or decrease might warrant further investigation, but a steady growth is a positive sign. - **Development:** Since your baby is active and behaving normally, this is also a good indicator that everything is fine. ### When to Consult a Pediatrician: - If you notice a significant increase or decrease in head size over a short period, or if your baby shows signs of developmental delays or unusual behavior, it would be wise to consult your pediatrician. Since your baby is active and there are no other concerns, it sounds like he is developing well. However, regular check-ups with your pediatrician will ensure his growth continues on track.
