Q.

My baby got bilirubin on the next day of his birth.. then with photo therapy that was decreased and on his 10th day bilirubin increased to 19.. then he readmited and with photo therapy and saline again that was decreased.. Again on his 30th day his bilirubin increased to 1 5 and also he got UTI (30-35 pus cell) and the doctor started antibiotic course with IV.. doc said the course will be continue for min 10 days.. p.lz tell is there anything to worry?? why bilirubin is increasing continously? All the report is normal except above problems..

A. A baby will need treatment if the bilirubin level is too high or is rising too quickly. A baby with jaundice needs to take in plenty of fluids with breast milk or formula: Feed the baby often (up to 12 times a day) to encourage frequent bowel movements. These help remove bilirubin through the stools.
