A. dear mum, until the age of 6 months, you should exclusively breastfeed. at one episode of breast feeding, feed from only one breast so that baby receives fat rich hindmilk which will help in weight gain. after completion of 6 months, you can begin with foods like porridges (like rice, Ragi, wheat flour , moong dal and rice flour mix) , kheer then dal-rice with vegetables, veg khichadi, soft mashed fruits, curd. later mashed paneer. consistency of food should be like that of ghee. avoid water thin foods like thin dals and rice water, soups. Squeeze lemon in baby's food for iron absorption. start with 3-4 tsp and then about half katori per meal about 2 to 3 meals per day.
