Q.

My 3 yr kid is diagnosed with habitual constipation. His potty training is not done yet. Doctor suggested Muout polyethylene glycol course for 2 months and suppository every 72 hrs. We are following strict diet. We are seeing improvement. But very gradual. how long it may take for complete recovery? please suggest. #asktheexperts

A. continue the medicine given by the doctor and the child will improve Your child is having constipation for which kindly give plenty of water to drink and fibre diet made from cereals pulses vegetables and fruits. Changes in diet has to be made Specially give papaya, banana, oats, fennel seeds water pear, prune, pineapple, resins, plum as it will help in decreasing constipation. Even after that the problem continues kindly meet your doctor for constipation medicine. it is important for you to know that the problem of constipation will improve with increasing age of the child. You may increase or decrease the dosage of constipation medicine if needed according to the consistency of the stool.
