potty training and toilet training should be initiated as soon as the child completes one and half years of age. avoid before that except if you feel that the child is giving cues when he or she wants to pass stool. 
also good demonstration has to be given again and again to the child to reinforce the habit.
make the child sit on potty seat daily so that the child gets accustomed and not fearfuld of the seat and situation

please be patient as after starting training it may take 6 months also for the child to learn.

Hai good morning !! If baby is still on diapers then stop using while pee,potty training.
  Initially start pee train let baby pee every one,one half hour make a schedule within days baby will habituat and intimates you before want to pee avoid using diapers day time, night time you can use.
Similarly observe baby potty timings like daily how many times or once or twice a day morning or after feeding .
  Make baby sit on potty chair  or you can choose attatch,detatchable potty seats to commods it may take time baby will throw tantrums due to fear,discomfort  but keep trying gradually baby will be potty trained.
