POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy6 months agoA. White spots under the eye in children can have several causes. Here are some common reasons and what you can do:
Possible Causes: Pityriasis Alba – Light, dry patches common in kids, often due to dry skin or mild eczema. Milia – Tiny white bumps caused by trapped keratin, usually harmless. Vitiligo – A condition where the skin loses pigment in patches (usually spreads gradually). Nutritional Deficiencies – Lack of vitamins (especially B12, D, or calcium) can sometimes cause white spots. Fungal Infection (Tinea Versicolor) – A fungal skin infection that causes discolored patches. What to Do: Moisturize the area with a gentle cream (Cetaphil, Aquaphor). Ensure she gets a balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, and dairy for proper vitamin intake. If it's dry and flaky, apply coconut oil or mild hydrating cream. Avoid harsh soaps or excessive rubbing of the skin. If it spreads, changes in size, or persists for more than 2-3 weeks, consult a dermatologist to rule out vitiligo or fungal infection.
