1. Burping: Burping your baby after every feeding can help release trapped gas in their stomach and prevent bloating and indigestion.
2. Probiotics: Giving your baby probiotics may help improve their gut health and reduce gas and bloating.
3. Massage: Gently massaging your baby's tummy can help ease digestive discomfort and aid in passing gas.
4. Avoid overfeeding: Overfeeding can cause your baby's stomach to become distended, leading to indigestion and bloating. Feed your baby slowly, and stop feeding when your baby shows signs of being full.
5. Check for food sensitivities: Certain foods may cause bloating and gas in breastfed babies. Keep a food diary to see if your baby's symptoms worsen after you eat certain foods, such as dairy or cruciferous vegetables.
To determine if your breast milk is sufficient for your baby, there are a few signs you can look for:
1. Weight gain: Your baby should be gaining weight consistently and steadily. Your pediatrician will typically monitor weight gain at each well-baby visit.
2. Wet and dirty diapers: Your baby should have at least six wet diapers and three bowel movements a day.
3. Satisfied after feedings: Your baby should seem content and satisfied after feedings, rather than fussy or restless.
4. Adequate feeding sessions: Feeding sessions should last at least 20-30 minutes, and your baby should be actively nursing during that time.
If you have any concerns about your baby's nutrition or digestive health, it is always best to consult with your pediatrician.
