A. Teething can be uncomfortable for babies and may lead to irritability and feeding issues. Here are some tips to help ease the discomfort and keep your baby calm: 1. **Teething Toys**: Offer chilled (but not frozen) teething rings or soft toys that can be gnawed on to help soothe sore gums. 2. **Cold Compresses**: Gently rub a clean, damp, and chilled washcloth on your baby's gums to help numb the area. 3. **Massage**: Use a clean finger to gently massage your baby's gums. 4. **Pain Relief**: Consult your pediatrician about using baby-safe pain relief, such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen, if necessary. 5. **Comforting Feeding**: Offer smaller, more frequent feedings to ensure your baby is getting enough nutrition and to make feeding more comfortable. 6. **Distraction**: Engage your baby with soft toys, gentle play, or songs to distract from the discomfort. 7. **Maintain a Calm Environment**: Ensure your baby’s environment is soothing and calm to help reduce stress and discomfort. If teething symptoms seem severe or if you have concerns, it's always a good idea to check with your pediatrician.
