A. Solid or semi foods can be introduced only when the baby completes 6 months of age. Exclusive breastfeeding is advisable till then. Start with one solid or semi solid meal per day and then increase gradually. Give Dal Ka Pani or rice Ka Pani or rice porridge or ragi porridge or any one fruit puree or mashed banana or stewed apple or any one vegetable puree or clear vegetable soup. Continue with these and after 2-3 weeks of introducing solids, you can try giving weight gaining foods such as banana, avocado, potato, sweet potato, home made ghee in small amounts can be added to baby's khichdi made of moong Dal. Ragi also helps in weight gain. You can give yoghurt made at home.
