1. Round Ligament Pain: As the uterus expands, the ligaments supporting it stretch, which can cause sharp, brief pain, especially on one side. This is common in the second trimester.
2. Gas or Digestive Issues: During pregnancy, digestion slows down, which can lead to gas or bloating, sometimes causing discomfort on one side.
3. Braxton Hicks Contractions: These are mild, irregular contractions that some women experience in the second or third trimester.
4. Urinary Issues: A urinary tract infection (UTI) or kidney stones can sometimes present as pain on one side. Make sure to monitor for other symptoms like burning during urination or fever.
5. Pressure from the Growing Baby: As your baby grows, pressure on muscles and ligaments can cause temporary pain or discomfort.
If the pain is mild and goes away on its own, it is likely normal. However, if the pain becomes severe, constant, or is accompanied by symptoms like bleeding, fever, or dizziness, you should consult your doctor to rule out any complications.
