Q.

hello Doctor, My daughter is 40 days old, And her birth weight was 3020grams.After three days her weight was 2682 grams. Again we checked her weight on 12th day it was 2800 grams and she has not reached her birth weight till then. Doc said insufficient milk she gets hence start supplementing with formula. I breastfeed her 10 to 12 times and 4 times 30 ml formula. Now if I check her weight it is somewhere near 3600grams. is it sufficient for 40 days old girl? or the weight gain is slower ? how much should be her ideal weight by 40 days if her birth weight is 3kg

A. its common to loose weight during initial days Maintain hydration and keep a track on urine output maintain hygiene in the area Weight gain depeens upon birth weight and maturity of the baby if the baby is active and feeding adequately don't worry about it feed for 10 to 15 min from each side

A. Its More than sufficient a child or will you should be gaining a minimum of 400 g every month your child has gained better than that with formula feeding so I believe your child is getting very very well so you do not have to worry about the weight gain for sure
