A. For a 5-month-old baby suffering from cold and cough for a week, along with vomiting and curd-like milk, it is important to monitor the situation closely. Vomiting in infants can occur due to several reasons, such as excessive coughing or congestion, which can irritate the stomach, or due to an underlying infection. The curd-like appearance of the vomit could be due to the milk mixing with stomach acid or mucus. It is essential to ensure that your baby is not dehydrated, as vomiting can lead to fluid loss. Since your baby is very young, it is important to consult with a pediatrician for proper evaluation and treatment. The doctor may recommend using saline nasal drops to help with congestion or suggest a humidifier in the baby's room to ease breathing. For cough, the pediatrician may prescribe safe treatments like a mild cough syrup or recommend other remedies, but avoid any over-the-counter cough or cold medications unless advised by the doctor. Make sure your baby continues to get enough breast milk or formula to stay hydrated and nourished during this time.
