POOJA KOTHARIExpecting Mom due in 1 month3 months agoA. If your daughter weighs only 8.5 kg, her age is important to assess whether the weight is within a healthy range. If she is over 1 year old, this weight may be on the lower side. Poor weight gain can be due to low food intake, frequent illness, digestion issues, or nutritional deficiencies.
Here’s what you can do:
Offer energy-rich foods like khichdi with ghee, mashed banana, boiled egg, paneer, curd, and dry fruit powders in meals. Feed 5–6 small meals a day with variety and soft textures. Limit milk to no more than 400–500 ml/day, as too much milk can reduce hunger for solid food. Add healthy fats like ghee or butter in small amounts to meals. Deworm if not done recently (as advised by a doctor).
If her appetite is poor or she's losing weight or seems less active, it's best to consult a pediatrician to check for underlying issues and possibly run nutritional tests.
