#asktheexperts my baby has severe cough i have given 3 doses of alex drop in 1ml quantity but still is not working what to do

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children3 years agoA. Cough along with Cold most of the time is a viral illness and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration. you can give steam inhalation which is very useful .
cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodgilators or antitussives medicine which should be given only after a prgtoper evaluation by the doctor according to the type of cough.
if fever is there paracetamol can be given to reduce the fever and the dose can be repeated after 6 hours again if required .

RashmiMom of a 11 yr old girl3 years agoA. U Also should nebulise your child along with the medicine that you’re giving because nebulisation is going to help a lot in reducing down the congestion down the chest and throat which maybe causing discomfort to the child
