A. To thaw breast milk safely, follow these steps: Refrigerator method (best way): Take the frozen breast milk out of the freezer and place it in the refrigerator. It will thaw in about 12 hours. Once thawed, use it within 24 hours. Warm water method (faster): Place the sealed milk bag or bottle in a bowl of warm (not hot) water for a few minutes until it reaches room or body temperature. Shake gently to mix any separated fat. Avoid: Microwaving (it can create hot spots and destroy nutrients) Refreezing thawed milk Always label milk with the date before freezing and use the oldest milk first.
