A. Demand feeding (also called responsive feeding) should ideally start from birth—especially if you're breastfeeding. It means feeding your baby whenever they show signs of hunger, rather than on a strict schedule. For newborns, hunger cues include: Rooting (turning head to find the breast or bottle) Sucking on hands or fingers Lip smacking Fussiness or restlessness Crying (a late hunger cue) For formula-fed babies, you can also use demand feeding, while ensuring you're not overfeeding. As the baby grows (around 6 months and beyond), responsive feeding also includes offering solids when the baby shows interest and stopping when they seem full.
