#AskTheExpert sir my baby is 1yr 1month old he is not putting on weight nd is susceptible to infections v quickly ,hecis still on breastfeeding and we give him food 3 times a day. please advise what will help him put on weight?

A. For improving the immunity you should be giving a healthy and balanced diet. The child's regular meals should comprise of cereals, pulses, greens, vegetables, fruits, nuts, dry fruits, dairy products etc., There should be more protein and Vitamin C intake which are very good in building immunity. And as for weight gain, You can add full cream cows milk, eggs, meat if non vegetarian, potatoes and all diary products like butter, curd, ghee, cheese, paneer etc. Add dry fruits and nuts like almonds, pistachios, cashew, walnut, fig, dates in the child's regular diet. They will help to increase weight. Continue breastfeeding up to 2 yrs or as long as the mother and child are comfortable.
