POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy6 months agoA. If your son is having trouble swallowing food and coughing, it could be due to:
Throat irritation or infection (viral sore throat, tonsillitis). Swollen throat due to postnasal drip from a cold or allergy. Acid reflux causing discomfort while swallowing. What You Can Do: Give warm fluids (lukewarm water, soup, or honey water if he is over 1 year old) to soothe the throat. Avoid dry or spicy foods that can irritate the throat. Use saline nasal drops if he has nasal congestion. Give small, soft meals to make swallowing easier. Steam inhalation can help if mucus is causing discomfort. Regarding Relent Syrup: Relent syrup (not "Relentless Plaster") is usually given for cold, cough, and allergies. If your doctor has prescribed it before and your child has nasal congestion or an allergic cough, you can give it as per the recommended dose. If swallowing difficulty persists, worsens, or he has high fever, drooling, or refuses to eat, consult a doctor immediately to rule out throat infections or other issues.
Let me know if he has any other symptoms.
