#asktheexpert My son is 2 weeks old. He is crying every time before passing urine. 6 out of 10 times urine is in normal colour. How to reduce the discomfort he faces while passing urine? please advise.

A. Newborns may cry while urinating because they are experiencing some level of discomfort. Paediatricians generally believe that this is normal; the bladder stretches as it fills up, putting pressure on the bladder. This should not be painful or cause for concern.you notice any signs of distress while your infant is urinating, notify your pediatrician. This could be a sign of infection or some other problem in the urinary tract. In a healthy child, urine is light to dark yellow in color.
