#AskTheExpert My son 1 yr 3 m old is not gaining weight. Since 4-5 months his weight is around 8 kg. His birth weight was 3.2 kg and he is very active. I am worried about his weight could you please let us know if his weight is ok and how he can gain weight?

A. Dear parent, weight of 8 kg is slightly on the lower side. However if your baby is active, playful and achieving all growth milestones then do not worry. For healthy weight gain, give homemade balanced diet having variety of food groups especially seasonal fruits and vegetables even green leafy vegetables. At least 500 ml of full cream milk every day, which includes milk products like curd, paneer, cheese. You can give eggs and non veg foods. Add powdered nuts like almonds to baby’s food. Breastfeed baby till 2 years.
