#AskTheExpert My sister is in her third trimester and has minor thalasemia due to which her HB is 7.4. Because of minor thalasemia, she can’t be injected with iron drip. Please guide what should be done.

A. in such a case iron rich diet is very important and take proper guidance from your gynecologist to cure this situation it is difficult to comment here without knowing the other details also

A. Nutritional deficiencies are common in thalassemia. It is recommended that patients going through blood transfusion should opt for a low iron diet. Avoiding iron-fortified foods like cereal, red meat, green leafy vegetables & Vitamin C-rich foods is the best option for thalassemic patients.
