A. White spots on a 4-month-old baby's tummy, along with itching, could be due to several reasons: Possible Causes: Dry Skin or Eczema – Dry patches or mild eczema can appear as white spots and may cause itching. Fungal Infection (Tinea or Pityriasis Alba) – Some fungal infections cause white patches on the skin, often with mild itching. Birthmarks or Hypopigmentation – Some harmless skin conditions, like idiopathic guttate hypomelanosis or temporary hypopigmentation, may cause white spots. Allergic Reaction – If your baby recently wore new clothes, used a new lotion, or came in contact with something irritating, an allergic reaction could be the cause. Vitamin Deficiency – A lack of certain vitamins, like vitamin B12 or D, may sometimes lead to white patches. What You Can Do: ✔ Moisturize the Skin – Apply a gentle, fragrance-free baby moisturizer or coconut oil to keep the skin hydrated. ✔ Check for Irritants – Avoid using harsh soaps, lotions, or synthetic fabrics that may cause irritation. ✔ Keep the Skin Clean & Dry – Wash with mild baby soap and pat dry; avoid excessive rubbing. ✔ Monitor for Changes – If the spots grow, spread, or if the itching worsens, consult a pediatrician. ✔ Avoid Scratching – Trim your baby’s nails or use baby mittens to prevent scratching and irritation. If the spots increase in size, change color, or don’t improve within a few days, it's best to see a doctor to rule out infections or other skin conditions.
