Q.

#asktheexpert My daughter is 3 months old and I noticed some mucus in her stool for 2 days but the frequency is normal as in a day she poops 2 to 3 times. So is it normal behaviour or I need to give her any medicine.

A. Hello there ma’am. Mucus in stool is common in infants and is mainly due to mucus or throat infection in the baby. Pleae put nasal saline drops in the nose of the baby. Also give indirect steam inshalation to the baby twice a day. You can also apply kids Vicks Vaporub on baby clothes near chest area. Make the baby burp after every feed. It is not advisable to give anything to the baby other than mother’s milk till the age of six months. Thanks and take care
