A. It's not uncommon for a 16-month-old to experience changes in appetite or become picky about food, especially around this age when they are developing a sense of independence. However, a sudden decrease in food intake for two weeks may indicate that something is affecting your child's appetite. It could be teething, a mild illness, or just a phase of decreased interest in food. To help encourage eating, offer small, frequent meals with a variety of flavors and textures. Make mealtime a pleasant experience without pressure, and try to offer food in fun or bite-sized portions that are easy for your child to handle. You can also try to include your child in the meal process by letting them explore or "help" with simple tasks. If the loss of appetite persists or you notice signs of weight loss or other concerning symptoms, it's a good idea to consult your pediatrician to rule out any underlying health issues.
