Q.

#asktheexpert my baby will be 17 month this month on 19th. His weight today is 9.7kgs. Is he underweight, should i be worried. His birth weight was 3.4kgs.

A. At lower border but within limits it is important for you to know that the weight of the child depends upon the genetic patterns and by that pattern only the weight gain in child is seen. it also depends upon the diet the child is taking. so it is advisable that you should meet the doctor who will tell you whether there is anything to worry or not and whether the child requires any health supplements. the child should be given different flavours and recipes made from cereals pulses vegetable milk and fruits daily in small amount. you can add ghee groundnuts dryfruits in the diet and this will help in improving the weight of the child. you can go through many recipes for children in different flavour and taste for your child on firstcry

Its Not appropriate according to the age of the child see the birth weight was really very good but the current weight is definitely not good I’m going to advise you as of now to consult your paediatrician tell advise you with some supplements and a nutrition expert for a balanced diet plan for the child
