Q.

#AskTheExpert My baby girl is 9 months and 5 days. Her birth weight is 1.600 kgms. Now her current weight is 5.700 kgms. she is fullterm baby with IUGR. Is this the normal weight gain or should I get concerned about her weight. How can I gain her weight?.

A. Weight gain in a child is a good indicator for proper health of the child and there should be a regular weight gain as per the age of the child. if there is not a proper weight gain it can be because of many factors and three most important causes are Baby not taking enough calories Baby is not absorbing the enough calories which the baby is taking Baby is burning too many calories . So a prfoper assestsment is very important to know the cause regarding this .

It Is common with these kids to have a little less weight and growth according to time but gradually with passing is the definitely are going to pick up so as of now if you can increase the amount of proteins and fats into your child’s daily diet that that’s going to be really helpful and also consult a nutritionist once
