you have to clean the ears of the child only externally with cotton cloth. 
do not use anything like earbuds to clean the internal ear. 
this will only do more harm as wax will get impacted inside deep and will cause more problem. 
if you feel that the child is having some problems in the internal ear then kindly meet your doctor for examination.
if the child is having wax problemx and not improving with drops you have to get it removed with the help of your ent doctor. 
if there is pain you can give paracetamol to the child for pain

hello you can use a soft cotton clothes and clean the baby ear outline and do not put it inside which should be better and safe but any concern you can check with your doctor and she can guy do accordingly and absolutely nothing to worry about
