POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy6 months agoA. A 3-month-old baby drinking milk for only 5 minutes per feed may or may not be enough, depending on:
Things to Observe:
Weight Gain & Growth
If your baby is gaining weight normally, there’s no need to worry. If weight gain is slow, they might not be drinking enough.
Wet Diapers
At least 6-8 wet diapers per day means the baby is getting enough milk.
Feeding Frequency
If your baby feeds every 1-2 hours, short feeds might be normal. If feeding gaps are long (3-4+ hours) and the baby is still drinking for only 5 minutes, they might need more milk.
Baby’s Behavior
If the baby is happy, active, and sleeping well, milk intake is likely sufficient. If the baby seems fussy, hungry, or irritable, they may need more milk. What You Can Do: Try to encourage longer feeding by keeping the baby awake (tickle feet, rub back). Ensure a proper latch so they get enough milk efficiently. If weight gain is a concern, consult your pediatrician for advice.
