#asktheexpert May I know if there any cough medicine for a new born baby. He is 2.5 months old.

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy1 Year agoA. give nasal saline drops every few hourly to the child in the nasal cavity.
try to prevent temperature variations around the child
you can go for indirect steam inhalation which will again help in decreasing both cough and cold
continue the regular diet of the child
if there is no improvement in few days then meet your doctorf
for fever and pain give paracetamol.
anti-cold medicines at this age have got side effects so can be given only after medical consultation.

Maxtra can be given to the child but since your child is too small my recommendation is going to be consulting the paediatrician before you give any medicine to the child so it would be more practical for you to consult your doctor right apart from this if your doctor suggest you
